I guess u r right, well the only dog that pulls my autopad is my husky…he is 1.5 year old now, and he had started pulling since he was just about 6 months old…and yes…seems like the only thing he has in his mind is running…hahaha…but still i find its difficult just to controll him running on the right track…:(

Well I may not be an expert, but I do know that if you wanna have a sled dog team they have to be born wanting to run. Haha i too would love my huskie being able to pull me on a sled but He’s just not that kind of dog =D Pluss thease dogs have been trained there whole lives to run.

How to make them keep running on the right track? My friends and I have some huskies, and we’d like to start doing this sport, but the problem is that there’s only 1 dog which is pulling, the other two seem to enjoy their outside world alone more than to pull the sled/autopad (;p).
Do you have any tips for me?
    thx b4….

That’s so cool! I have a husky, but he’d rather be chewing my bedspread than pulling me around in a sled. xD

There are some great websites for commands and how to train. We start in the fall with new dogs letting them pull tires across the yard. They go into a harness, we attach a line to them, then to the tire. We use a leader line to guide them as to what to do. A leash will do too. Commands depend on where you live. We use Gee, Haw, Hold out, Hike up, easy, whoa, Get up and so on. All of these can be googled. Good luck, it’s a great sport.

never seen a 3-wheeled titler rig before. I wander why all the land rigs you see from the US use very small wheels?

In the UK 20″ wheels are prefered.

I’m getting my first sled dog soon, and I have been interested in racing for a really long time. I’m 15 years old, and I was wondering where you get your harnesses and sleds and training sleds and whats the best way to teach your dogs to pull and commands? Could you find them at Big R or something?

Thanks and let me know (:

    Ashley…

I spent the first 12 years of my life racing huskies in Michigan and my family is even pretty good friends with Linwood! This video brought tears to my eyes. Missed the sound of huskies wanting to do what they love. your video did so much for me, thank you!!

I would love to train my husky to run like this; but I have no idea where you’d start. I guess you only really have a chance if you’re born into a family that already does it. I’ve heard many say that your dog learns off another dog; but if you’re like me and only have one dog; what are you supposed to do?

    Lol.

how do you get them not to run away mine aways jets it out of the yard.

  23. jamoneeaka says:

I do the same with my Husky and German Shepard/Afghan Hound mix. They live for these runs.I don’t use all of the traditional commands, I have all my own and they work well.
    Great video.
